02:25 PM ET 03.11 | The Washington Redskins look like they'll release wide receiver Santana Moss. Thanks to $36 million in penalties levied against the team for contracts issued in 2010, Washington is $3 million over the NFL's salary cap and looking to free up some space. Moss is set to put a $6.17 million dent in the 'Skins cap next season. He caught 41 passes for 573 yards and eight touchdowns in 2012. Washington has already released DeAngelo Hall, who was going to cost the team roughly $8 million in 2013.

Likely, I would think so. You do not pay that kind of jack to a guy who is third on your team behind Garcon and Morgan.

Back loaded contracts coming back to bite...seems to be more than usual this year though

Well, the Skins got some cap space taken away as punishment, so that would make sense

Every single thread seems to be about player releases due to the cap. Gonna be a Wal-Mart league next year. Baltimore is going to be hilarious. A $25M QB with nobody to throw to but the water boy!!!

Not necessarily.
A lot of teams are in a bind right now because they're still dealing with crazy rookie contracts left over from the old CBA. Moving forward teams will sign players to much more reasonable contracts, so it's unlikely that we'll continue to see as many cap casualties as we've seen this year.

Speaking of cap casualties, apparently the 49ers just acquired Anquan Boldin from Baltimore for a 6th rounder in this year's draft.

The NFC West is taking care of it's lone weakness - wide receivers.
Your move, St. Louis Rams.

As I said Flacco's throwin' to the waterboy. This year is definitely FUBAR. Hope it does settle down.

Damn shame is that Richardson was in with the gang that saw to it that Danny & Jerry got "got".

I disagree 100 percent with these penalties. An uncapped year is an uncapped year. If teams made massive payments to guys with contracts that extended beyond that, well tough ****. They played within the rules as they were stated at the time.
