02:44 PM ET 03.11 | For the first time in spring football, the USC Trojans went with live hitting during the sessions and it unfortunately resulted in injuries to two of the team's key offensive stars. Both projected starting quarterback Max Wittek and star wide receiver Marqise Lee suffered knee injuries during the live practices. There is no word on how serious the knee injuries are, but Wittek's appears to be more serious.

Happened during drills before the darn scrimmage. Nothing of note. Will probably limit them the rest of spring, but nothing to write home about.

The Trojans' luck seems to be turning bad lately.

You domers certainly have a habit of turning molehills into mountains. When it comes to us anyways. LOL

These type of injuries are common to all programs.... I'd like to blame them on Kiffen somehow, but can't do it. It's likely to set back Wittek's development a bit, but not a devastating blow by anymeans.

Even as a "domer" ICE I hate to see this happen. Hopefully you are right and they will recover completely. We want to see them in South Bend this fall...!

Yes ... but if your name is Jadeveon Clowney and you get a calf strain in practice it will be breaking news with hourly Sports Center updates.

Wittek needs every second of practice he can get. You may have missed their last 2 games, but even in fast forward the Sun Bowl was the most painful 25 minutes of Trojan football I can recall ever seeing.

LOL, yeah I remember when "Hacksaw" Reynolds (Rams), got this nickname!! "Reynolds earned his nickname in 1969 by cutting an abandoned 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air (some accounts claim it was a Porsche) in half with a hacksaw after his previously unbeaten University of Tennessee team returned from an embarrassing 38-0 road loss to Ole Miss!!!! Now that was the good old days of "sport media"!!!! :-)

There is another thread that just popped up about the Nebraska tailback tweaking his knee. Last year, Sparty's starting qb hurt his knee in practice. A lot of problems with teams offenses in the fall can be traced to who got hurt in the spring.

But if they didn't report it, and there was a problem come the beginning of the fall everyone would be yelling coverup and the lack of journalism by "trying to hide injuries"...

Aw what the hell. Blame it on Kiffen.

Not gloating, ICE; I respect the Trojans now that they are beyond the Pete Carroll cheating era. Kiffin appear to be over his head, but so far there is no dirt on him.
Just an sincere observation; the Trojans can't seem to catch a break recently.
I want USC to remain a worthy ND opponent; we need to catch up on recent losses and can't do it honorably if the Trojans don't field a strong team.

I can only imagine how painful that game was for a USC fan to watch. The players quit and that can be blamed on Kiffen. It is hard to predict how the '13 version will play.
