Harvin trade befuddles Williams: 'What the ----?'

08:03 AM ET 03.12 | For one, Vikings veteran Kevin Williams was left scratching his head after the franchise moved Percy Harvin. "I guess the initial thought of everyone was, 'What the crap?'" Williams said. "There's something bigger going on than I guess we know, but your first initial look is, 'How could you trade a dynamic guy that's part of your team?' You look at it from the owner's side, and there must be some benefit of doing it, but at first, I don't know." ... [Williams] sounded acutely aware of his short window to win a championship, and was concerned whether the team could replace Harvin. "You're like, 'What's going on? We're going backwards at this point in (my) career,'" he said.

'How could you trade a dynamic guy that's part of your team?' Maybe because he's nuts.

"Why would someone want to leave Minnesota??"

Oh.... right

The vikings did the only sensible thing left to them. Harvin did not want to be there, and they granted his wish. His ex team mates should be happy for him and for the extra space in the trainers room.

Note to Vikings... you really want to "go backwards"?

Trade Peterson.

and there is a thing called a salary cap...can't have two players making tons of $$$$.....Harvin will ever be happy there playing second fiddle to AP......he'd be a huge headache every time his contract didn't suit his liking...

The Vikings will be better off without him down the road. They had no cap problem, the man did not want to play there, they would have lost him after the 13 season anyway, and they suck the Hawks into a first and two other picks for him.

"We're going backwards at this point in (my) career,'" he said". Ummmm, Mr. Williams, you must not have gotten the memo. Your team has been going backwards for 10 years now.

They did trade half a football team for a running back once upon a time. Vikings don't have the best record when it comes to trading.

The Vikings in The Long Run are better off, they gat rid of a Headache, that's what NY is doing with Revis!

NY is trading Revis bc he's the only chip they have left

Williams scratching his head in befuddlement shows how stupid and out of touch Williams is. The Vikings had a player who wanted off the team. He was a pain in the neck and injury prone.

The Vikings knew they would have to draft a Wr, now they have that drafting power to get 1 of the top 2 Wr in the draft plus more cap space to hire a FA. All Seattle got was a Migraine, in more ways than 1.

There is not much clamor from Minnesotans about the Harvin trade . In Baltimore there are lots of people pissed that Boldin was let go for a 6th round pick, and more of an effort was not made in trying to keep him.

Let's see. No passing threat. Good luck getting 2K yards this season, AP.

Made the playoffs without him last year. The vikes will be fine. Loved Harvin on the field but man the distractions this guy caused off it was too much. Good trade for both teams BTW. The way it should be.

Exactly. Everyone around here is actually quite pleased with the return the vikes got.

Well said sir. Coildnt agree more. And to add, trading him was a good move as well as a $12MM per year salary hit on a player who plays the WR position like an RB is not a real wise investment IMO. Good luck though and good luck to SEA.

Harvin wants a big contract and then he'll shut it down like Haynesworth. Great move by the Vikings.

Shenanigans. The team made the playoffs last year when everyone thought they wouldnt. Finished a game behind GB for the North title. Had the NFL MVP who had a phenomenal season, the likes of which we may not see again for along time. also, went to the NFC championship in 09. Ok. What am i missing? Compare to that to some other teams of note and thats not bad at all considering the drop off from 09 to the year before last. Actually impressive the way the team came back to being relatice again if i say.
