08:04 AM ET 03.12 | At first, there was a rush to predict Robert Griffin III's speediest of recoveries, but the brakes are being pumped on the optimism. Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that quarterback Robert Griffin III is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from knee surgery but he has "no idea" if Griffin will be ready to play at the outset of the season. "Robert is doing well," Shanahan said during a news conference at Redskins Park. ... "He is ahead of schedule according to Larry [Hess, the team's head athletic trainer]. That means the muscles are stronger than they anticipated and he is doing everything he can to be ready for this season. "Is he going to be ready? I have no idea. I'm sure keeping my fingers crossed."

Be careful, he just said he may not be ready, he did not say he would not play him regardless.

<-------------- growing tired of reading about this kid and his ACL. Back...not back...back again...
You can almost replace his name with Rose from the NBA threads.

Take as much time as you need, Griff...
Take the 2013 season if you must.

Good advice and I agree 100% He's got a HOF career ahead of him if he doesn't play when he's hurt.

Shanahan's track record is a little spotty, given what happened in the playoffs last season.

And Shanny will have a really short shelf-life in D.C. if he puts RGIII in too soon (as in re-injury of the knee).

You got that right! Shanny better realize RGIII is the face of the franchise and not himself. Skins fans are counting on at least 10-12 more years of RGIII. If they go two or three more without a SuperBowl, they'll want Shanny gone immediately. It behooves Shanny to make sure RGIII takes as LONG as he possibly needs to be 100% healthy before he puts him back out there.

And Skin fans should be "holding their breath with anticipation"!!!! Also the Skins better get a different offense for RG to run, or he will get hurt again, running around like he did last year!!!

You are NOT going to get 10-12 years out of a QB that plays with such wreckless abandon. They need to put a leash on him (or at least offer up better protection), or this guy will be "unsure" on a week to week basis.

Shanahan: "He's not completely healthy? So, he must be partially health, right? Play him" Unfortunately for Skins fans and anyone who enjoys football, Shanahan may have messed up his career last year. Hope not.

Spot on...
That read-option or pistol or whatever you call it will end his career BEFORE his rookie deal is up.
Plus, if I am a Skins fan, I am concerned about a few things :
RGIII's ACL
No Right Tackle
Hall just got cut = needs a new CB
No Starting Saftey
No Round 1 pick due to RGIII trade
And only 1m under cap
Sorry, but 10-6 is not happening again.
More like 8-8 if not 7-9.

I live in the DC area and very few people are "worried" about MeAngelo Hall getting cut... They are more likely to be out celebrating his departure...

You could be right...but the job he did on Dez in Week 17 would be hard to duplicate with a lessor player.
Hall at $8m was not worth it...but Hall, period, is a better option than a Round 2 or 3 pick in the current draft.
