Bidding war for Reggie Bush

08:05 AM ET 03.12 | It appears someone who had taken his talents to Miami may wind up with options as a free agent. The Reggie Bush sweepstakes are beginning to heat up, and it looks like the Detroit Lions will have serious competition. The Arizona Cardinals released running back Beanie Wells [Monday], clearing room for Bush to be their feature running back, if he desires. The Cardinals reportedly are interested in Bush, whom the Lions have made their top target in free agency. In Detroit, Bush would help fill the void left by Jahvid Best's recurring concussion problems. Best hasn't played football in 17 months, and his career is likely over. The Lions are looking for a home run hitter for their backfield.

Out of habit, to get into the bidding, USC offered his family a house if he came back to them.

Wait a minute, let me see if I've got this right: the 49ers pick up Anquan Boldin for a sixth round draft pick, and teams are trying to outbid each other for Reggie Bush?

You don't get much for a player in a trade when everyone knows you are probably going to cut him. If I knew it, then certainly the teams knew it.

Right....not only did everyone know that Boldin was going to get cut, he also has 1 yr left on his deal.
A 6 is not equal to his talent but it is equal to what they might get, which is a solid 1 yr rental.
There are no guarantees he re-signs after this season, or fits into their program or even makes it through the season healthy.
Balty lost on this deal all around....no doubt...

I don't think the Ravens lost at all. Boldin will be 33 with 1 year left on his contract so rather than overpay for a guy they got something in return. Baltimore is NOT trying to repeat, their trying to remain somewhat competitive until they can hit a few good drafts.

Goldin called their bluff and left them no choice. That said, Ozzie made the mistake of keeping together his 2000 superbowl winning team and it blew up in his face. He is not in to making the same mistake twice.

Just give Pete Carroll a call and find out what it takes to sign the guy.

Good!! Let the Lions TOTALLY overpay for Bush. As a Packer fan I LOVE hearing things like this. Especially for a slightly better than marginal player.

Not with our line currently. He'd get killed on the grass in the elements with our o-line.

Didn't realize that Reggie Bush can qualify for a news story anymore. All sauce, no meat.
