08:21 AM ET 03.12 | Don't look now, Blackhawks, but the Ducks -- as of Monday carrying the league's most powerful power play, as well as a sparkling 18-3-3 record after winning three straight at home -- are nearing in your rear-view mirror. Two regulation losses by Western Conference-leading Chicago within the week have moved the Ducks to within six points of the Blackhawks. Is [Bruce Boudreau] content to win only the Pacific Division? "I want everything," he said. "I never once thought Chicago was out of range. Everybody else did. We've got a lot of work to do. We've completed half our season. You don't win anything in half a season. Consistency and staying healthy are the keys."

2009-10: Boudreau's Caps finish first in league, lose to Montreal in first round.

Don't get ahead of yourself, Brucie. You've been down this road before.

Every time I see a pic of BB, I think back to the early 70s when I watched him play Junior for the Toronto Marlboroughs (not the Marlies, although the team was commonly referred to as Marlies) at the Mecca of hockey, Maple Leaf Gardens.

hard to believe the little butterball today was once one of the most feared scorers in Junior hockey.

regardless, I think that he's proving that he wasn't the problem in Washington. I bet Ovie and co. miss him dearly at this point. No more free-wheeling, no more fun, and no more wins.

The Caps squad flourished under Boudreau. They didn't go the distance, but they were definitely regarded by all as a premier team for many years. Caps hockey was must see tv.

What are they now?

It sucked for Boudreau getting fired, but he proved that wherever he lands he'll be just fine. Seems like all the talent in Washington needed ole Brucie more than he needed them.

I'll reserve my judgment now that he actually has a NHL-calibre goalie. But he still has the chip on the shoulder.

I'm happy fpr Bruce and the success he's having. Maybe he'll send McPhee a card thanking him for the chance.

"Boudreau intent on overtaking Chicago"

That shouldn't be so difficult. The Hawks will do all they can to cooperate as they started a new streak. ;-)

Better do it now, the window closes when Perry signs with the highest bidder.

No, no, no.....Brian Burke is a scout for the Ducks. Where would they be without his elite recruiting skills??

I was thinking New York. But then again, why would he want to end his career so prematurely?

Washington: The San Jose Sharks of the East. Ovie's fat and unmotivated..and he now blames the refs for the teams troubles...great leader he is.
