08:35 AM ET 03.12 | Sunny California was anything but to the Flames, who woke up Tuesday as the worst team in the Western Conference. And so the Flames return home to the chill with the firm classification of sellers instead of buyers as the April 3 trade deadline fast approaches. Jarome Iginla, Miikka Kiprusoff, Jay Bouwmeester, Cory Sarich -- the rumour mill will no doubt run wild for the next 23 days with all kinds of speculation involving a gaggle of Flames veterans. Let the bidding begin. Teams with scouts on hand Monday at the Staples Center included Vancouver, the New York Rangers, Boston (2), Anaheim, Nashville, Buffalo, Colorado, Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay. The bird dogs witnessed the Flames lose their third straight.

Good observation! Except .... this not a flock. It's more like a gaggle.

That's what Don King does when he throws a candy wrapper on the sidewalk.

And now he has a Dolphins avatar?

My heart goes out to this guy. Seriously.

But ownership won't want to trade Iginla and Kipprusoff because, they'll feel, the team is so close to be a contender and trading the face of the franchise will only create a PR nightmare they're not willing to deal with. They still think it is 2004 when they had they're incredibly lucky run to the finals. Same thing happened in after 1989, they got older and not much better and by the late 1990s the team was a disaster. But they still clung to the past.

Iggy is a goner, just a matter of where. I say Pitts with Malkin gone every other week.

you gotta give something to get something. Pitt's problem isn't scoring. I don't see them giving up tangible assets or the quality draft picks that it will require to land Iggy.

This team should of been dismantled a long time ago. The scouting here in Calgary is absolutely crap. Look at the last 10 years of drafting...maybe 3 or 4 legitimate NHL caliber players out of the entire 10 years of drafting. They need to start looking at the entire organization as a whole and changing the staff.
