04:14 PM ET 03.12 | The New Orleans Saints continue to try to create cap room before the NFL free agency period is set to begin with the release of linebacker Will Herring, according to Larry Holder of the Times-Picayune. Herring is a 29-year-old linebacker who just finished his second season with the Saints and his sixth overall season in the NFL. Herring played in all 16 games last year for the Saints and finished the season with 13 tackles and 1 forced fumble as he backed up the strongside linebacker spot and played special teams. Herring is just one of several players the team has to make decisions on, including potential restructured contracts for Will Smith and Jonathan Vilma as well as pending free agents like Jermon Bushrod and Chase Daniel.

I've never seen so many releases. It's going to be an entirely new league next year...........uh, except for the Cowboys.
