07:20 PM ET 03.12 | Ed Reed beat the San Francisco 49ers to win Super Bowl XLVII but it now appears as though he'll be joining them in 2013. The Niners are expected to lose Dashon Goldson in free agency, which means they'll be looking to add a new safety, and that safety is looking like it will be Ed Reed. While many initially thought Reed would head to Indianapolis to rejoin head coach Chuck Pagano, all signs are beginning to point even further west to San Francisco. For starters, Reed is represented by agent David Dunn, who happens to represent both San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke and head coach Jim Harbaugh. Reed played under John Harbaugh and is familiar with the way the brothers coach, and he fits their style in every single way imaginable. Then there's the matter of need as the 49ers need a safety and Reed needs a new home, and both have the common goal of making it back to the Super Bowl next season.

...or he could go to the Pats and win a Super Bowl... If he thinks playing for John is the same as playing for Jim, he's sadly mistaken.

Sounds like San Fran is stacking it up. They're gonna be tough to beat anywhere.

The 49ers NEED a safety, but the safety they need must be a cover guy. Is Reed such a guy? I always thought his talent was for hitting receivers after they catch the ball.
