08:05 AM ET 03.13 | Welcome to the world of free agency, Brian Urlacher. As [Urlacher] enters free agency on Tuesday, the veteran linebacker remains highly uncertain about his future plans. And if the Chicago Bears are planning to try to bring him back for a 14th season, they're doing a good job of keeping their intentions unknown. ... At least one other team is known to have at least mild interest in signing the eight-time Pro Bowl selection: the Dallas Cowboys. With the hiring of Monte Kiffin as the team's new defensive coordinator, Urlacher could remain in the "Tampa 2" scheme in which he's had so much success during his career. However, the Cowboys are cash-strapped.

We have $125K just waiting for you, Brian.

Why? No big money, no chance for a ring.

I know he's a competitor, but there's a time to hang 'em up, and this may be that time.

The minimum mandated salary for a guy with his years is around $950,000. He will need to look in the mirror when asking much more. The mirror may not look back.

I don't see it.

Urlacher in Dallas? Is he on vacation there?

Your image in the mirror? Have you ever been bitten by Al Davis?

Urlacher is an old warrior and should retire with some dignity.

Agreed. Urlacher in any other team's gear would be like Emmitt Smith n Cardinals' gear. There's no real point to it.

He has played in a Super Bowl and had a great career. As a Bears fan I wish him well in whatever decision he makes but it will really hurt to see him at a Bears convention in a few years barely able to stand. Good luck Brain and thanks for some great years...!

It wouldn't surprise me to see Al stalking the dark hallways to Goodells office.

In his mind, he can still play...notice I said 'his' mind

March 13, 2013  11:50 AM ET

He can still contribute but we'll find out what's most important to him if he signs with somebody, $ or a crack at the SB.

March 13, 2013  11:54 AM ET

Even if Dallas had the dough, he is not worth any of it...plus, he plays Sean Lee's spot...Lee is the future, Brian is the past.

Dallas needs to extend Romo, figure out Spencer and cut Free...they are doing zippo until 1, 2 or all 3 of those get done.

Given the shape of his knee(s), I wonder if Urlacher can even pass another team's physical.

I keep seeing this image of Dick Butkus at the end of his career dragging his right leg around the field. Urlacher needs to hang 'em up.

Being a Cowboy fan in Chicago, no. Hell no. He can't get through a season at this point in his career.

Maybe Jerry can get everyone on the team to restructure their contracts and take pay reductions in order to sign an aging linebacker. Jones is Hog-Tied in free agency, so why mention him. Can't wait till the draft when they start speculating as to what Al Davis would do with Oakland's #3 overall pick?
