Tigers rotation spot too close to call for Leyland

08:13 AM ET 03.13 | After Drew Smyly made his own case not to be bumped from the Tigers rotation, Jim Leyland turned the tables on reporters. "Who would you start?" Leyland asked a media member. There was a pause. "Did I stutter?" Leyland asked. "Who would you start?" Leyland paused again. "I'm being funny," he said, "but that's the problem. You don't know. Neither do I. That's why I asked you the question. It's not that easy. It's not that easy for me either." Smyly and Rick Porcello certainly have not made it easy on Leyland, general manager Dave Dombrowski and the rest of those who will have input in the eventual decision on the matter. ... "Competition makes everybody better," Smyly said. "It makes you work harder. It makes you focus harder."
