Pressure on Driskel to improve

08:17 AM ET 03.13 | Jeff Driskel, the job is yours -- so, now what? [Driskel] won't be involved in a quarterback competition, as backup Jacoby Brissett is transferring to N.C. State. So Driskel will enter his second season as a starter with the coaching staff hoping he improves as a passer, both with his decision-making and mechanics. He'll get the majority of the spring reps, although the Gators will need to find a new backup between redshirt junior Tyler Murphy and redshirt freshman Skyler Mornhinweg, both of whom have no college experience. Driskel has struggled to stay healthy both in his freshman and sophomore campaigns, so durability is certainly a concern. But he did finish 2012 by completing over 63 percent of his passes.

Murphy is listed as the #2 in the recently-released Spring depth chart. Mornhinweg wasn't listed, not sure if that's just because he's an incoming freshman, or what.

Time to start working on getting Murphy up to speed, or get some competition going with him and Mornhinweg for the backup slot. Lord, it's never a good thing having only one "good" option at QB. Maybe Boom needs to get that Cal QB on the horn and have a talk?

Florida seems to be following the same strategy Alabama did right after Coach Saban arrived. A stingy defense and a passable offense.

Of course, they insist on wearing that ugly orange and blue, so hat's one huge mark against them....

So, this is the only starting QB being pressured to improve?

First you call us Saban copycats. Then you bust on our awesome school colors.

I understand that this is the offseason, but HELLZBELLZ if you wanna go this route, let's take it outside right now!!

Hey, your coach is smart enough to know a successful formula. As for the colors. UGGGHHHHH - no comment!

Hey that picture to the right says Fight night in Brooklyn. More like Fright Night. Yahamma Mama!

You already commented in a negative fashion, so your "no comment" comment is disingenuous.

I throw down my orange and blue gauntlet, sir, and challenge you to a duel utilizing skillz known to reside in SEC fans:

Brown-bag-stuffed-with-cash toss, for distance and accuracy

We need a few impartial judges to preside over this, so we need a couple of volunteers. You may make the first toss, sir. The best of 3 tosses wins.

Mornhinweg (that's going to be fun to spell for the next few years...) is behind Murphy on the depth chart. That is probably due to Murphy's Junior status. However, we will see how that battle develops over the next few months.

Staver isn't coming in until Summer, so he won't be playing at all this fall (unless something really bad happens....<knock on wood>).

I like the cash toss, but I think it would be more enjoyable to use the three Volunteers as the items to toss.....maybe off Rocky Top?

That would be something you both could enjoy.....

Driskel is a stiff. Hopefully Coach Boom continues to do for Florida what Derek Dooley did for Tennessee.

"continues"?

Last I looked, the Gators were doing fairly well, and much better than previous seasons, which indicate a positive trajectory. Not sure that is any kind of a decent comparison to DD's UTk tenure.
