03:55 PM ET 03.13 | The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed former San Francisco 49ers free agent safety Dashon Goldson to a five-year contract. The 49ers wanted to include Goldson in their plans for 2013, but they have been unwilling to pay top dollar to many of their departing free agents. Goldson was after a deal around $8 million per year, which is right about what San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle makes. The Buccaneers make a ton of sense for Goldson. For one, they have all the cap room in the world, and they are trying to rebuild their entire secondary. They have a strong group of players up front but the back-end is in constantly flux. Goldson would add some much-needed stability to the mix after recent losses of Aqib Talib, Eric Wright and potentially Ronde Barber.

So much for conventional wisdom, huh?

TB Bucs spent more money last year on free agent players than anyone and still didn't make the playoffs, and now they are out it again. I did not understand why are they playing this man this much money who could not cover anybody in the Super Bowl.

Maybe they can get themselves in the Mix?

The Niners can just sit and wait for the draft.

Time for the Bucs to unload their dough because they can.

That's one of the few pictures I've seen of Goldson actually making a tackle and not getting burned in the postseason... He was burnt toast in January and February.

Just when Roddy White and Julio Jones thought they'd only see him in the playoffs...now this
