04:29 PM ET 03.13 | In two years, it will be opening day at Matt McGloin Field. It doesn't sound real, but the Penn State satellite campus in the hometown of the walk-on-turned-starting-quarterback for the Nittany Lions will name their baseball stadium after McGloin, who went 8-4 as a senior this season.
Penn State Worthington Scranton will open their new baseball field in 2014, and are trying to raise $125,000 to keep the stadium permanently named after McGloin. The quarterback from a town probably best known as the setting of TV's "The Office" began his career as a walk-on under Joe Paterno, but earned playing time as a sophomore and junior. He didn't truly blossom until this past year, when in the wake of a massive sexual abuse scandal, he led Penn State to an 8-4 season, throwing for 3,271 yards and 24 touchdowns against just five interceptions.
