Don't count Cuban out yet

08:09 AM ET 03.14 | When it comes to business, it's good practice not to bet against Dallas Mark Cuban -- particularly when it comes to the Mavericks. Cuban is too smart and too rich and too competitive. He will do something, even if it takes him another season. Because he always has. ... [Cuban] saw this dip coming. "I always told my wife, 'It's just a matter of time,'" Cuban said to the Dallas Morning News recently. "Hopefully, it won't be my time yet ..." But give Cuban some time. Let him confirm Dwight Howard's intentions. Allow him to listen to his staff about Josh Smith, or if it's worth another call for Paul Pierce. It's what Cuban does. And why the Mavericks will live again.

Cuban has apparently forgotten it took him 11 years to win his 1st championship. After tearing it apart, it will likely be longer before he wins another one.

We can already say that since even if everything comes together, it won't change the fact that he already had a title team, which he blew up prematurely and for no good reason.

The Dallas Mavs will bounce back soon enough. They are already under the salary cap and once Nowitzki's contract expires next season, they will have even more cap space than they will know what to do with. It will be quite the culture shock for the Mavs as they have spent more than a decade in luxury tax territory.

Dallas will be fine. There's only one Kevin Durant and Only one Lebron James. Everybody else is in the same place. The team that loses in the finals is just the 1st place loser. As long as we're completing we'll be fine. Dallas has financial flexibility other teams would kill for. Dallas is just two years removed from winning a title by beating OKC, and Miami, no one gave them a chance that year either. MFFL.

and there is only one dirk who crried you for a decade.
- no one can/will take away your title-
but you future is not looking so rosy.
having $ is great- but unless you get the right players and have a dirk-like caliber guy to bring it all together - you will not be competing for rings

Future looks bright. We not bogged down with bad contracts and are flexible. The rest of the league has to deal with the CBA too. That team that won the title wouldn't have repeated anyway. Especially with a bunch of old guys coming off a lock out situation with no training camp. Glad you're finally giving Dirk some credit for being an Elite player. He's still on the team by the way.

Point is they're in the same talent pool as the rest of the league, not named Thunder or Heat. No one else has a star of their caliber. But Mavs proved in 2011, it takes more that just talent.
