08:21 AM ET 03.14 | Credit Wild owner Craig Leipold for his optimism. [Leipold] vowed to win a Stanley Cup during his tenure, assuring business leaders the club is positioned to compete for an NHL championship for up to seven years while hedging his bets on this season. "I see a Stanley Cup championship. My hope is that it happens soon," Leipold told the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, March 13. "It may not be this year. It may not be next year. But the beautiful thing is we have a window now that's not going to close in two or three years. We've got a window that's going to be opened up for five, six or seven years." Leipold boasted during his speech about 102-percent-capacity sellouts at Xcel Energy Center.

Big words from a guy who has maybe five players tops that are worth a damn, no starting goalie signed beyond this season, and pays a wage to Dany Heatley. Hilarious.

Well Craig I am pretty sure it is going to happen and it happens around the same time every year. I just don't see you or your team being there.

C'mon Otis.................don't you see one in Dallas? I see one in Washington. Of course, I also see a large bunny delivering eggs and chocolate on Easter too!

Barring strikes and player lockouts by Gary Buttman, there's usually a Stanley Cup championship every year.... It doesn't take Dionne Warwick and the Psychic Friends Network to figure that out... Otis, It could be anywhere, he never said he saw it in Minnesota...

Craig, I've got a window too...but there ain't no Stanley Cup showing up just because of it!

Good one. I think that's a geographical danger though. Everybody in DC loses their marbles , usually sooner rather than later!

Good drugs in Minnesota.

The question should really be did Biden ever have any marbles though?

March 14, 2013  10:36 AM ET

What's he supposed to say after he made those two large financial commitments?

"I think we're looking at a three-year rebuild. We are going to strip this team bare outside of Parise and Suter and build through the draft. Once those two contracts expire, we should have the assets to make a run."

Good Lord....

March 14, 2013  11:17 AM ET

I've seen the Stanley Cup once. It was a replica in the HHOF. Buy a ticket and head to T.O - that's about as close as you'll get.

Must be forgetting about the Chicago's, Boston's, Montreal's of the world....
