Leafs will #FreeJakeGardiner only on their terms

08:22 AM ET 03.14 | At some point, no doubt, Jake Gardiner will return from the AHL to the Maple Leafs -- something of which head coach Randy Carlyle is sure. The question weighing on the mind of seemingly everyone in Leafs Nation, though, is when? ... [There's] been no summoning of Gardiner from the Marlies, and his agent, Ben Hankinson, didn't aid the situation when he tweeted late on Tuesday night #FreeJakeGardiner after the Leafs were trounced 5-2 on the road by the Winnipeg Jets. ... For Carlyle, Hankinson's little outburst on Twitter meant nothing. "I don't really pay attention to what agents have to say," Carlyle said. "I don't live in the Twitter world. We make our judgment and our assessment on our players."

This is so stupid.

But, what do you expect when you have Jake Gardiner in the A, JML in the press box, and give Korbinian Holzer nearly 20 minutes of ice time a game?

Nobody's wondering why Mikey ain't playing.

I'm starting to judge the wisdom of leaving Johnny up there, though. Or Jake down at the Ex rather than on Bay St.

Perhaps the guy signing his cheques does.

He obviously got out-worked...same with the bums sitting in the press box....whats Carlyle supposed to do ?? Give ice time to the players that have big contracts ?? Do big contracts give these players entitlement ?? I think not. Want ice time out-work the other guys..simple as that. I think i respect Carlyle now. The guys doing it the right way.

DL you sound like you want all the bums playing and for your team to be sitting in the 10th spot. Say it aint so.

Huh? Holzer is a -9 and he's playing an entire period. I'd much rather give Liles, who in the past has shown himself to be a pretty good puck mover, a shot, nevermind Jake Gardiner who is possibly the best defenceman on the team.
