01:04 PM ET 03.14 | Quarterback Kevin Kolb, after a bumpy two seasons in Arizona, is expected to be released by the Cardinals soon, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network and NFL.com on Thursday. Rapoport also reports that a motivating factor behind the Cardinals' apparent decision to part ways with Kolb sooner than later is a $2 million roster bonus owed on Sunday, March 17, to the seven-year veteran out of Houston. Kolb's future in Arizona first began to appear murky after the Cardinals agreed to a three-year deal with quarterback Drew Stanton on Wednesday. Stanton, as Gregg Rosenthal at NFL.com notes, is familiar with new head coach Bruce Arians' offensive system after spending the 2012 season as Andrew Luck's backup with the Indianapolis Colts. In 2012, appearing in six games due to a combination of depth chart changes and injuries, Kolb threw for 1,169 yards -- completing 59.6 percent of his throws -- with eight touchdowns and three interceptions.

I know a lot of Cardinal fans want to jump on him. They're putting on their golf shoes as we speak.

He'd be considered an upgrade on the JETS...

As would you.

This Cardinal off-season is turning into their usual Exercise in Ineptness. Everyone is down on Kolb, but he didn't play all that poorly last year. His problem was playing behind likely the worst offensive line in NFL history.

So while they let Kolb go to save a buck, they sign the extremely mediocre Drew Stanton to add to their stable of QBs that range from crappy to mediocre: John Skelton, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer.

Meanwhile, they also dump Beanie Wells and replace him with an injury-prone running back with a history of having a bad attitude in Rashard Mendenhall. Just brilliant. Apparently the new GM is striving to prove to everyone that he is just as horrible at his job as Graves was.

We'll see Kolb and Cassel soon enough...

on Pros vs Joes...

as the Joes.

Kolb needs to thank the Cardinals management for making him a rich man. Stanton and Mendenhall better hope the O line is better than last year, if not disable time is coming for both this season.

Jon Gruden would love each and every one of them.

Actually, Cassel found himself a new home fairly quickly.

And were he willing to come to Arizona, I'm sure he would be there too instead of Arians.

Kolb did the same thing in AZ he did in Philly, looked prety good until he got hurt, and never came back
