01:19 PM ET 03.14 | Nnamdi Asomugha, the now-free agent cornerback released by the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, is meeting with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, according to reports from CSN Bay Area and ESPN's Adam Schefter. The secondary appears to be a major focus for San Francisco with free agency under way, as the team has already met with former Green Bay Packers safety/cornerback Charles Woodson and have a visit lined up with ex-Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas, according to Schefter. For the 49ers, the defensive backfield likely became an even bigger need after safety Dashon Goldson agreed to a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday. Asomugha, at 6'2, 210 pounds, brings size and pedigree to the cover-corner position. Though his previous two seasons with the Eagles were underwhelming, it's hard to believe that Asomugha lost all of the skills that made him a four-time NFL All-Pro over his eight seasons with the Oakland Raiders.

Two underwhelming years in a row should make teams wonder if he has any skills left at all.

I heard he's really good at not letting the ketchup drip on his pants while eating in the car

If they don't pass on him Wilson will. Twice a year. I like the Wilson's odds.

Very True. They need to take a look at Huff.

Coincidence or destiny? Asomugha just happens to be in the Bay Area talking to the 49ers on the same day Cal is holding their Pro Day in Berkeley. Asomugha needs to come back to the good Karma of the Bay Area were he will erase the negativity of his years in Philadelphia.

If the 49ers are so concerned about replenishing their secondary then why are they dragging their heels ? There were 3 positions that needed to be addressed in free agency; WR = Boldin, DL= Dorsey, Secondary= ?????????????????

Good fit with the Niners.

When the Eagles release, he's probably really done.

This article is kind of vague as to which position the 49ers want him to play.

But I think it's time for Asomugha to move to free safety, he simply isn't able to run with faster receivers like a true cornerback anymore.

Harbaugh will either motivate this guy to be the player he should be or he'll crush him. Either way, he's worth a shot.....

He might be able to make it SF, they have a lot of option plays on defense and he might fit in!!!!!!
