04:49 PM ET 03.14 | Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier could miss an extended period of time due to a lower-body injury, according to general manager Steve Yzerman on Thursday morning. Yzerman announced that Lecavalier had been placed on injured reserve and could miss more than the required seven days that comes with an IR placement. The only positive is that Lecavalier will not have to undergo surgery on the area, but even the prospects of that option being brought up allow inference into how severe this injury could be. It is believed that Lecavalier sustained the injury on Tuesday night against the Florida Panthers.
