04:34 PM ET 03.14 | In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Kentucky coach John Calipari said that Nerlens Noel is "doing fine" after undergoing surgery to repair his torn ACL on Tuesday. The surgery was performed by famed surgeon Dr. James Andrews so that NBA teams would be able to have all the information about Noel's recovery. The Kentucky freshman was considered one of the front-runners for the No. 1 overall pick before the knee injury, which occurred in mid-February and knocked him out for the rest of the season. If his recovery is going smoothly by the NBA Draft, Noel is still considered to be a likely lottery pick, even though he will need at least 6-8 months before he's able to return to the court. Despite missing the last month of the season, SEC coaches named Noel as the league's top freshman and defensive player in end-of-year voting.

The decision is relative to the others in the draft, not the history of the pick.

the kid averaged 10 & 10 in college
the #1 pick should be a guy that will get you 20+ in the NBA
even without the knee injury- he is not projected as a scorer
with the knee injury? the #1 pick ?
hells no

*Ideally, the #1 pick should be a guy that will get you 20+ in the NBA.*

I'm not saying Noel is a #1, just saying your argument against him is flawed. If the rest of the draft is scrubs and no one can get you the magical 20+ in the NBA, then what? Can Noel be #1 in that scenario? So just tell me who you would pick at #1 that can get you 20+ and I'll probably agree.
