08:05 AM ET 03.15 | Bears GM Phil Emery took a step out of character earlier this week, publicly addressing a contract negotiation. [Emery] acknowledged Wednesday that the Bears are still trying to re-sign middle linebacker Brian Urlacher. "That is an ongoing process, and we'll keep working through that process," Emery said. "As I said at the Combine [Feb. 21], once we work through that, everybody will know that decision." Urlacher has been voted to eight Pro Bowls in 13 seasons. He was named NFL defensive player of the year in 2005 and helped the Bears reach the Super Bowl in 2006 for the first time in 21 years. But Urlacher got off to a slow start in 2012 after sitting out the entire offseason program and preseason with a knee injury.

As I said before, I worry he's going to end up like Jr. Seau.....admitted to playing with concussions. Not Good!......and please don't go to Dallas.

Please.
If he goes elsewhere, it will be kinda like Jerry Rice suiting up for the Broncos... a curiosity more than anything else. Maybe he finishes a season, but then he signs a one-day offer with Chicago to retire as a Bear.
