08:20 AM ET 03.15 | Cincinnati's Mick Cronin returned to a familiar theme this week -- including his own willingness to speak out. Cronin has pulled no punches this season whenever he has been asked about [the demise of the Big East] and he fired away again Thursday in his postgame press conference after the Bearcats lost to Georgetown, 62-43. "The whole thing is tragic," Cronin said. "Nobody cares about student-athletes. All anybody cares about is money. Everybody in the NCAA, in college administration, they talk about academics and student-athletes. If people cared about student-athletes, West Virginia wouldn't be in the Big 12 with ten teams flying 800 miles to their closest road game. That's really conducive to studying."

A voice in the wilderness....will anyone hear it?

Mick has a very good point.....NCAA and these Conferences are just worried about money and
Thats a fact Jack!!!

He should write these thoughts down and mail them to 5 years ago, when it might have made a difference.

I think this is an appropriate place for........

............CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT SUCKS!

Preach on Brother Mick!

He sounds like he's just still crying about losing. What does what he talked about have to do with an almost 20 point loss to Georgetown?

"My team sux, and I've been doing the best I can but we STILL sux....so of course, that means I need to go out and rail against the system!!"

What he should be speaking out against is those hideous uniforms his team wore the other night. Really ? Who designed those, a six year old ? I'm sure that decision by UC had nothing at all to do with money, huh ?

I think this sums it up.

I agree with him on this point: nobody cares about student athletes because it IS all about money now. It used to be the Big East tournament in Madison Square Garden was a premier event because of the quality of teams in the conference. That conference configuration has been carved up and distributed elsewhere.

I don't suppose he would be willing to take a pay cut to back up his little speech. He fails to realize the huge sums of money college football and basketball coaches are now being paid is a direct result of the very beast he is now trying to slay!

The West Virginia move is totally absurd ...and, no doubt, the doings of their football coach who wanted to realign himself with his "good old boys" at OSU. West Virginia made THE biggest mistake of all the moves made in the country. Their travel is beyond absurd.

Maybe he is...but what he's saying is 100% accurate.

I don't get it...why are people bashing this guy? It IS only about money, just like everything else. He's dead-on, and justified in his frustration.

And they have, perhaps, the most overrated CFB program in the nation, to boot.
