08:28 AM ET 03.15 | If the Flames are on the verge of making a big deal -- or any deal, it seems -- GM Jay Feaster isn't likely going to be talking about it beforehand. [The obvious question] is whether the Flames GM still sees his team as a trade-deadline buyer as it has the last three playoff-less seasons. Or has reality finally set in? ... "I have always been of the belief that such discussions, philosophical or otherwise, are not in the best interests of the organization," Feaster told the Calgary Sun via e-mail when asked about sharing his mindset with fans. "As such, I have attempted throughout my career, to refrain from speaking publicly about what we intend to do or how we plan on running our business until such time as we have an actual transaction, such as a trade or a contract signing, etc., to announce."

Honestly, though. What currently-employed GM would ever talk about trade talks he's having?

He's mum because, after the Flames beat the Wings the other night, he's convinced they're on the right track to win it all.

Sure, if Kipper makes like Frank Brimsek, George Hainsworth and Glenn Hall every night they've got a shot!
