08:42 AM ET 03.15 | U.S. Women's National Team defender Heather Mitts announced her retirement through social media yesterday. In the release, Mitts thanked many people or organizations and said she will miss the little things. She also noted that she will be joining the Philadelphia Union as a sideline analyst. She affirmed her membership in the "old ladies club" with Christie Rampone and Shannon Boxx. Mitts is a graduate of the University of Florida and played professionally for the Philadelphia Charge, Boston Breakers, Philadelphia Independence and Atlanta Beat. She is a three-time gold medal winner with two international goals. Both of those goals happen to be game winners.
