03:36 PM ET 03.15 | The Toronto Maple leafs have traded forward David Steckel to the Anaheim Ducks for minor-league forward Ryan Lasch and a seventh-round draft picki nthe 2014 NHL Draft. The trade is directly related to forward Joffrey Lupul???s being cleared for contact earlier on Friday afternoon. With Lupul eligible to return to the lineup, the Maple Leafs needed to clear a roster space. In order to do so, they opted to trade Steckel. This move came at the recommendation head coach Bruce Boudreau who had previously coached Steckel while the two were employed by the Washinton Capitals.

The Irked One's fingerprints are all over this trade. Let's not forget how his enormous ability to recognize talent was on full display when he drafted Steckel.
