Brian Urlacher's Bears future still murky

That's a shame.........He has been such a great player for the Bears........Hopefully he can play at a high level until he chooses to retire...

I think that's the problem. He's got knee problems and is getting older. He admitted last year he couldn't play the way he used to anymore. He's been a great player, but he's not the force he was a few years ago and the fact he's getting very little interest in the open market shows that.

Yep..........Hopefully he does'nt settle for being average just to keep playing.

I don't think it is murky on the Bears part. Very unmurky really. The NFL has a way of telling you when you are done.

He was darn good for sure Mick, but I don't think he's been playing at a high level for a few years now. He still has his moments, but his old body is betraying him.

If any team still thought he had it, they would have called. There is his answer. That and the nearly $1 million minimum the CBA demands he receive.

I just hope he doesn't go to another team. He'd likely only play for one season (providing he can play the whole season), and then he'd sign a one-day deal in 2014 to retire as a Bear. I equate this to Emmitt Smith playing for a season as an Arizona Cardinal; there's just much of a point to it.

Sooner or later the League has to address a program for Ageing Veterans, the Fans still want them on the Team but the Cap kills their exsistance of playing out their career for the same Club!My Plan calls for a reduction in Cap on any player who is in the league 10 or more years the catch is, that in order for a team to take advantage of the cap reduction 50% of Salary, the player has to be with the team for year nine! What this means if a player is either traded or dropped from the team after year nine he would not quaify, meaning Had the Colts kept Manning he would have qualified, If he was released like he was, his new team Denver pays full tilt! This allows a team to keep a player who is being rewarded for his past experience, the league could limit the number of players to 2-3 and expand roster for those veterans! Dats Dat!!!!!

I think the interest is one-sided (Urlacher's) with the sole intent being to get the Bears to make a hasty move, contract-wise.

Urlacher in Vikings gear would be Favrian, to say the very least. But then again, it is a business for players, and their loyalties are not based upon the same foundations as those of the fans.

But he is 35, and the NFL is a younger man's game. Father Time has caught Urlacher.

No, the Vikings prefer old Packers from the NFC North!

Urlacher isn't a wimp, but he isn't that durable either--he often has physical problems that reduce his abilities, or keep him out all together. A bad back is also a big problem for a football player, and Urlacher's will only get worse.

He isn't worth anything to anyone but the Bears, and they will only take him for the absolute minimum because they know no other team will pay more. It's just a stalemate until Urlacher realizes no team wants him, then he'll tell the Bears he'll take whatever they offer or he'll retire. It's just part of the game, and you can bet you'll hear those very words from #54 come the appropriate time.
