Djokovic, Sharapova advance at Indian Wells

08:41 AM ET 03.16 | Two of the brightest starts in tennis, Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova, breezed through their matchups at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden to advance in the BNP Paribas Open. Djokovic, the top-ranked man in the world, easily disposed of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 6-3, 6-1, in under an hour as he advanced to the semifinals where he will meet Juan Martin del Potro who was able to take down No. 3 seed Andy Murray. Djokovic is continuing his impressive run that includes a win in 22 straight matches and a 17-0 record this year. He will be looking to earn his third title of 2013. On the women's side, Sharapova took down No. 13 Maria Kirilenko, 6-4, 6-3, in a semifinals match and will take on No. 8 Caroline Wozniacki in the tournament final which is set to take place on Sunday. Sharapova received some additional good news following the win. With her advancement to the finals, Sharapova is expected to move from the No. 3 to No. 2 ranked woman in the WTA Tour rankings, which are released on Monday.
