12:36 PM ET 03.16 | Louis Murphy has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New York Giants, according to NBC's Pro Football Talk. Murphy spent the 2012 season with the Carolina Panthers, but did not make much of an impact. He finished the season appearing in 16 games, but with just 25 receptions for 336 yards and a touchdown. Originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 2009, Murphy was traded to the Panthers in July 2012. Oakland selected Murphy in the fourth round, with the No. 124 overall pick out of the University of Florida. In three years with the Raiders, Murphy appeared in 41 games -- starting 19 -- and caught 90 passes for 1,371 yards, with six touchdowns. Though Murphy's career numbers are underwhelming, the 6'2 receiver does possess speed. Murphy ran a 4.32 40-yard dash prior to the 2009 NFL Draft. Murphy figures to serve as depth for the Giants, with Domenik Hixon and Ramses Barden both currently testing the free agent market as unrestricted free agents.
