Could Ibaka have gotten the max?

03:17 PM ET 03.16 | Before this season, the Oklahoma City Thunder committed to Serge Ibaka as the final part of their "Big 3" with a four-year, $48 million contract. As lucrative as that deal is, did the young big man end up leaving money on the table? In the opinion of at least one NBA GM, Ibaka would be deserving of a max contract this summer had he not agreed to an extension with the Thunder before the season. As a restricted free agent, OKC would have been the only team capable of offering Ibaka a five-year deal, but it's not hard to imagine at least one team extending the premier shot-blocker a max offer sheet in that scenario.

He could have gotten a max deal with just about any team, including OKC. He accepted less $$ to play for OKC and have a chance at a title. I'm sure his agent is no dummy.

The only beef/regret that Ibaka could have is if he was asked to take less $$ so as to guarantee that Harden would re-sign.

I think he's making a fair contract-
he's no max guy
a max player is a guy that you build around-
he's a complimentary player

to bad hes not worth a max he has no post game, he gets posted up all the time, hes a great help defender with a jump shot that is all he can not rebound for a big guy either i do not know how he got the deal he got.

It's a good thing you're not the agent. Max doesn't mean the same amount as the other superstars. It's max money for him which means he could have gotten $60 million instead of $48. Tyson got max money from NY but what he got is not superstar max money. I believe Harden got $81 million. That's a big diefference from Tyson's $60 million and Ibaka's $48 million.

Harden worth every penny bro top 5 player in this league no doubt
