04:14 PM ET 03.16 | Brandon Lloyd's time in New England appears to be over. The Patriots will release Lloyd on Saturday, and consequently, avoid paying him a $3 million roster bonus, according to The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe. New England signed Lloyd in 2012, believing he would help provide a vertical threat, and add an element to New England's offense that its lacked since Randy Moss was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2010. Lloyd finished the season with 74 receptions (on 130 targets), for 911 yards and four touchdowns.

Kinda expected this, but with Welker gone and Lloyd looking like he's gone, makes you wonder what targets the Patriots are gonna have.

You got that one right. I don't think Danny Amendola will bring the kind of productivity that Welker had. Lloyd was pretty good too. Might be a very disappointing year in New England.

Please. Lloyd sucked and won't be missed at all. Amendola is hardly the unknown scrub that Welker was when he made his way up here from Miami, so let's see how that all plays out
BB and Brady won 3 Super Bowls with WR's that you'd never heard of and zero Super Bowls with Welker. It's about time we stop pretending that Brady is going to morph into Brady Quinn without Wes.

I agree. It is much more likely that Welker morphs into Wayne Chrebet (Peyton notwithstanding) than Brady becomes Bubby Brister. When Brady and Welker first got together, lets not forget who was the star and who was the scrub. Forced to bet on one or the other, I'll choose Brady.

Thank God. Brandon Lloyd couldn't catch Brady's cold never mind his pass.

Maybe it is time the Pats stopped signing other teams table scraps as wRs and draft and develop one. Just a thought.

Why? They've had one of the most prolific offenses in football for years and that side of the ball is not the problem.
