04:47 PM ET 03.16 | The New England Patriots have reached an agreement with linebacker Niko Koutouvides on a one-year deal, according to Ian Rapoport. Koutouvides, a 31-year-old Connecticut native, has bounced around the league quite a bit since breaking in back in 2004 with the Seattle Seahawks, where he spent his first four seasons. Since then. Koutouvides has played for the Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Patriots, where he has been a member of New England on and off since 2011.

With all the guys released because of cap issues, it's going to be a very different league next year. It will be interesting to see if the Ravens even make the playoffs.

He's a solid special teamer and he gets a few snaps a game as a back up LB. I imagine that he earns the minimum for a guy with his tenure and that works for me.

Why is this news? The Pats have signed and cut him several times over the past two years and his stats are less than impressive. He's got to be either 4th on the depth chart or a practice squad guy at best.
