Giants to change pass-rush scheme

08:47 AM ET 03.17 | It is expected that free agent Osi Umenyiora will not return to the Giants, so the team is planning to compensate by using its remaining pass rushers differently. Instead of playing a rotation in which three men split the snaps pretty evenly as the Giants did last year, I'm told Jason Pierre Paul and Justin Tuck will get the majority of the snaps. And Giants coaches don't want the ends flipping sides as much.

Does this mean they are going to have one ?

The defense was so bad you have to change something. Not easy to rush a passer with just four guys. Might want to stop the run first though, they were 31st in the league last year at that.

If they had a pass rush "scheme " last year, it was not apparent to anyone who watched them play.

There was a lot of reasons the pass rush wasn't like it normally is. I question a lot of what Fewell does. JPP really belongs on the strong side, the defensive left side, Tuck's position. Tuck has not played well at all, he used to be able to take one man and make him look silly. They had to double team him, not anymore more. And when they do double team Tuck he is totally neutralized and cannot make a play.

Good points. Canty hurt them, he missed a lot of games, no pass pressure up the middle. None. That is what they hope to get from Cullen J. at DT.

As long as a QB can step up in the pocket an outside rush isn't worth much....Fix the middle and you fix the outside.

This is very exciting, can't wait to see the finished product.

If you want to see a team that understands DL's ...that would be the Giants.
If you want to see a team that understands LB's ... that would be the Steelers.

Not worried here, the Giants always find a way to have an effective pass rush.

Either The Giant pass rush is gone or Fewell is lost in space, he has changed the defense to a coverage defense that played well against New England but he carried it over to last year!
