Alfredo Aceves causing more problems in Boston

11:10 AM ET 03.17 | The Red Sox want you to think they've worked really, really hard to move past the stink of the 2012 season. They want you to think they've cleaned up Dodge, that they have brought in "character" guys who play the game the right way, that this exciting new season represents . . . pause here for drum roll, please . . . 162 chances to restore the faith." But know this: As long as Alfredo Aceves remains a member of the Red Sox, it's nothing but a cheap marketing ploy. For ol' Satan in His Eyes Aceves was at it again yesterday, nearly causing a bench-clearing brawl after he drilled the Tampa Bay Rays' Sean Rodriguez in the fifth inning of a Grapefruit League game -- that's right, a freakin' Grapefruit League game -- at Charlotte Sports Park. Rodriguez had hit a home run off Aceves in the third inning. It should be noted that he also hit a two-run, ninth-inning home run off Aceves last May at Fenway Park, resulting in a 4-3 victory by the Rays and a blown save and loss for Aceves.

More New England media BS from the doughnut eating crowd that wants us to believe their opinions matter. What? The Red Sox didn't consult you? Kiss your rings before making management changes? Didn't instruct players to call you up personally and apologize?

KISS MY HAIRY WHITE GLUTEUS MAXIMUS!

> "I said it was a split-finger, my bad," Aceves said. "I was not trying to
> hit him obviously. It was a 3-2 game, and you don't want anybody on
> base. I understand he was probably upset or frustrated because he
> got hit, and in the last at bat he got a homer."

> "I would be more concerned if it was a fastball, but it was a split
> that hit him in the back," said Rays manager Joe Maddon.

As long as Aceves remains a member of the Red Sox, there will be passion. Dude! The guy wears his temper on his sleeves! Are you that clueless??? Charge the mound after an "Oopsie" and there will be jawboning. Heck... I'd have Rodriquez in a Nolan Ryan headlock, giving him free plastic surgery.

Baseball happens.

Nice contribution.

"Alfredo Aceves" translates roughly from Spanish as "Home run, hit by pitch, ejection".
