Carlesimo: Prokhorov a 'perfect' owner

01:34 AM ET 03.18 | While throwing around money never guarantees a championship, it's always nice when a team's owner is willing to open up his check book in order to try and win a title. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov is one of those owners, as evidenced by the spending spree the team went on this past summer. Because of this, interim head coach P.J. Carlesimo believes that the Russian billionaire is an ideal owner for Brooklyn. "To me, he's a perfect NBA owner because, every owner in the League says they want to win a championship. But A, not a lot of them are willing to put the money out there. He's already shown that he's willing to do that." While not all of the Nets' moves have panned out this season, there's no denying that they have become relevant again. Winning a championship may not be in the near future because of the Heat's dominance, but it won't be for lack of trying by the front office.

QUOTE(#1):

First. The New Yorkers say that the Knicks will always be the top dog basketball team in New York, and compare the Nets to the Clippers, but this is why they miss a key point. The Clippers' owner has been a cheapskate - until recently - and never even attempted to overtake the Lakers until this past year. On the other hand, the Nets' owner is even more powerful than the Knicks' owners and their deep pockets. He has the power and financial backing to overtake the Knicks and contend as well as, or better than, they do.

You don't understand NY.

DWill has been hurt.
Plus neither Wallace or Humpries have panned out. that's $22M per between the two of them!!!!
JJ has been OK, but not good enough to be a conference winning threat.

Not much else the owner could have done.
