08:04 AM ET 03.18 | Marvin Lewis didn't much care for a weekend column suggesting the Bengals needed to be more proactive in free agency. [Lewis offered his rebuttal to a claim] that the team needs a complementary wide receiver by saying that "Mo Sanu (is) way ahead of where one certain receiver (Chad Johnson) was in his second year playing in the National Football League." ... Added Lewis: "That's the uneducated putting dumb thoughts in people's minds. It's why you have an opportunity to go after these guys and go get these guys. So you continue to make your team better. You are not a positive in making your team better when you keep adding old guys. What did Randy Moss do for those guys last year? He did nothing. He got in the way of a younger player performing."

Who would have guessed that the Bengals would suddenly become the voice of reason?

Not saying Lewis is wrong but....why is the coach of the Bengals making a comment about a player on the 49ers? Am I missing something?

Especially after they signed TO a few years ago! After thinking about ia little more, it would've made more sense if he had said we did that with TO and we got a 2-14 season we're not going to make that same mistake again. BUt that would be admitting they made a mistake by signing TO.
I guess it's eazier to point the finger at others instead of yourself!!!

Hollywood is so out of ideas that they made a Jack and the Beanstalk movie.

I seriously doubt if Lewis wanted to bring T.O. in. Remember, those were the days when he didn't know if he wanted to remain in Cincinatti himself, after the crazy managing, and circus act signees.

Totally disagree...veteran leadership from a hall of famer is priceless, especially on a young team like the niners....Moss unquestionably helped to turn mike crabtree into a legit, #1 receiver......got in the way of what???...the team was one yard from winning the SB!!....hahahahaha....and who in the H listens to marvin ( hr puff n stuff) lewis anyway???....

He got in the way of another WR, who could have excelled possibly with the chance.

his coaches and teammates say different.....harbaugh wants him to come back and crabtree says that moss "taught me how to be a pro"..his words...sooooooooo...I dont get your pre-programmed criticism's.......everybody grows up, man...moss is definitely not a #1 receiver...but...after kyle williams and manningham both went down with ACL injuries....he did a great job.....SOO again....I have to ask you....what can you say negative about that?

Well they could make him a WR coach, since he's giving back to the game so tremendously in his second life time.... One the field... He gave what Lewis said, "nothing".
