08:07 AM ET 03.18 | In the case of Darrelle Revis, it's official. [Woody Johnson] said the Jets are open to trading any player on their roster -- including Revis. ... Neither Johnson nor new general manager John Idzik would specifically address reports the Buccaneers are preparing to make an offer for Revis, but Johnson made it sound as if his best player's days as a Jet could be numbered. "He's on the team right now, and that's the way we're approaching it," Johnson said. Johnson left open the possibility his cap-strapped franchise would attempt to sign Revis to a long-term extension before losing him for essentially nothing in free agency next winter, but Gang Green's owner wasn't exactly enthusiastic about what is considered by many a remote possibility.

Any team Revis goes to, he is going to have to re-negotiate his contract.
In the past he has shown, he isn't open to taking pay cuts. With or without that bumb knee.

What a surprise...Woody Johnson said something stupid. Great way to make your team feel wanted...just not wanted by you.

The team just took a $1 mill cap hit with one of his upcoming roster bonuses, regardless if he is traded, with another $1 mill coming up in June and another in July. I don't see any teams stepping up to what he'll want. So Jets either keep him at this year's rate or cut him.

All true. I also don't see a team jumping for joy at the idea of going through Revis' whiny contract negotiations until they know he can play near or at the same level as he did before the injury. This is an end of training camp story (at least) that the interns just keep putting up on the forum.

Really ??!! you guys don't see any team wanting to add one of the best CB's if not best CB in the league to their team. Negotiations are always a pain but in this case you agree with the Jets on a package of picks. a Low 1st round or high 2nd round pick plus 2 late picks (say a 5 and 6th) then you have 2 days to negoatiate. If it works and he agreed to a reasonable price great if not you don't do the trade. What's the downside for you as the new team? I can see why the jets woudl hate it if the trade feel through because Revis will be pissed but as the new team why would you care?

They probably think that all of this noise will improve that dumb show on NFLN about his rehab.
Anyone been sucked into that yet?
I haven't...

I'm sure a lot of teams would like to add a great CB to their roster, except you seem to be over-rating Revis by a LOT. You don't give up a first-round pick for a player closer to 30 than 20, unless it's a QB, ESPECIALLY if that player is coming off a major knee injury.
You certainly don't give away multiple picks for ONE GUY that is on the last year of a contract, *can't* be franchised, and is asking for a pay scale that is unreasonable.
If I'm a NFL GM, all I have to do is look at the results of the last time a team spent a bundle on the "best" CB on the market (I'm looking at you, Philadelphia).
My guess is the compensation has been worked out, the problem is with Revis and his agent's demands for a stupidly expensive contract.
