08:17 AM ET 03.18 | Becoming the first team in more than a quarter century to fall from a top-three ranking at the beginning of the season to no-bid land, Kentucky's missing out on the tournament, after all it went through this year, turned out not to to be a great surprise -- though there were some, of course. 1. Gonzaga gets a No. 1 seed, while Duke and Miami receive No. 2 seeds. The Zags had the weakest strength of schedule ever by a No. 1 seed. But Mark Few's team lost only two games all season, one of which came on a buzzer beater at Butler. Miami may have won the ACC regular season and tournament titles, but losses to Wake Forest, Florida Gulf Coast and Indiana State had to weigh heavily on the committee's decision.

Gonzaga will be the first #1 out.

The biggest surprise was leaving the defending champs out of tournament and sticking it to two other SEC schools Tennessee and Alabama.

What's an even bigger surprise is how Kentucky has played this year.

How many times does one have to win the ACC to get a #1 seed?

In any event, how great was it to see Henderson doing the Gator chomp!

The SEC got shafted big time while some mid-major teams that didn't play anybody got in. I would have put the Vols in one of the play-in games at least. Who has St. Mary's played to warrant getting in?

Tennessee should have played better in the SEC tournament if they wanted to get in the NCAA tournament. Gonzaga deserved a number one seed, Miami should have been a number one instead of Kansa.
