08:19 AM ET 03.18 | The Ducks, at least publicly, are taking the just-happy-to-be-here approach to the Big Dance. About 17 hours after Oregon completed its thrilling march to the Pac-12 Conference tournament championship, the Ducks took a puzzling tumble Sunday afternoon when the selection committee bumped them down to a No. 12 seed for the NCAA Tournament. ... "It doesn't matter," UO coach Dana Altman said of the seed. "I told the guys before the selection, 'We're going to play a good team.'" ... Tipoff is scheduled for a TNT broadcast around 1:40 p.m. at HP Pavilion. "I don't think it'll be an upset if we win, to be real honest," Altman said. "I think Oklahoma State is a good team, but I think we're a good team."

I personally thought 12 was too low as well.

If they're that good it shouldn't matter.

After the selections were revealed, ABC does an interview with one of the people on the selection committee who was very good at making excuses for why they did what they did... and then out of the blue they ask this person about his school joining the Big East conference, and I remembered that the people making these selections are also looking out for their own teams .. there is something wrong with this way of doing things.

being a 12 seed or 5 seed doesn't really matter. At the end of the day, they have to beat a 5 seed, then 4 or 13 seed to advance to sweet 16. If they had been seeded higher, at 8 or 9, their chance to advance would have been worse, having to face #1 seed

I take it back.. only 1 team has made to Elite 8 as 12 seed, while 3 teams made it to FinalFour as 8 seed.

Committee did OU wrong. They made up for it by giving them a better chance to get outta the 1st rd. at least.

If they would have lost in the PAC 12 championship game, would everyone be crying that it's too low?
I don't know the answer because I don't follow closely enough...based on what some people are saying, the Ducks coulda been as high as an 8. How much of that perspective is based on their tournament run, and how much is based on the overall body of work?
