Gaborik on the block for free-falling Rangers

08:23 AM ET 03.18 | While time begins to pinch the Blueshirts, scoring threat Marian Gaborik somehow has managed only to score only three goals since Jan. 26. But it also does not compute that [John Tortorella] would have shifted Gaborik, who had spent his entire career at right wing, to left wing. ... And now, the Blueshirts are seeking to move Gaborik again ... this time out of town by the April 3 trade deadline. It's going to be a tough sale at $7.5 million on the cap through next season, even tougher because the Rangers need value in return for No. 10, who has provided management with a list of 10 teams to which he cannot be dealt under terms of his no-trade clause.

seeing the rangers give up so easily warms my heart.

So lemme get this right: Gaborik sucks, makes a fortune, and plays on an underachieving team that "need value in return" for him.

Surely, these are the ramblings of a journo who had one too many on St. Patty's, right?

perhaps a few Leafs fans could loan their paper cups to the rangers organization...they could parade the paper cup around Manhattan, then ship them back in time for the Leafs elimination...

I heard they invited Tom Petty and Felix Baumgartner as special guests.

Tortorella should be on block....when you don't have grinders you used to have ..you have to adjust your style of play...he's so friggin worried about defense and blocking shots that offense is non existent. ...hey Torts just so you know you need to put the puck in the net in order to win....

Spiny care to weigh in? Where has he been?

Pretty sure the only place they're planning a parade/riot route in Canada right now is in Montreal.

Torts is blaming Spiny for the rough year. Just yesterday he was giving the new Commish the 3-finger salute! He'll be back. (Spiny that is).

me too...thanks guys
Gaborik has been sleepwalking through the season so far. It's almost as if he and Richards are pouting over Nash being brought in. It sounds odd, but I watch almost every game. They are both in a huge funk, though I understand this happens with Richards from time to time.
As far as Torts...he isn't the issue, not that I can see. I certainly don't see anyone giving up.
Staal being out hasn't helped, and it appears that Krieder isn't what they tought. Prust is certainly missed.

There are rumors that NY wants Ducks Perry but with the Rangers cap situation, there is no way they have room to fit that salary. However, anything can happen. Including a trade for Gaborik and a Richards buyout this summer. I don't see either happening, but you can't put that possibility past Sather, who could actually be on the hot seat this summer if the Rangers fail to make the playoffs. Just saying, I mean if they miss the playoffs its probably going to fall at the feet of Torts or Sather, not sure which one Rangers fans wants to see go.....

If I was a real one, I'd be insulted

Panic sets in way too fast these days, though there is absolutely cause for concern, especially because of the listless play.
Given the choice, I say dump Sather

Being serious for a minute, I think you're right!

Wasn't Nash supposed to be the last missing piece ? Columbus certainly does not seem to miss him ?

had Gaborik not gone off to the corner in a pout, he may have been,. I have actually been very impressed watching him every game
