12:52 PM ET 03.18 | Roger Goodell isn't endearing himself to Washington Redskins fans. The NFL's commissioner informed the Redskins that the NFL will not reduce the salary cap penalties that it levied on the Redskins, causing Washington to lose $36 million against the cap over two seasons, according to The Washington Post. Both the Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys were hit with cap penalties in March 2012 because of how the two organizations treated the "uncapped" 2010 season. While the Redskins were hit with nearly $40 million worth of cap penalties over two seasons, the Cowboys were hit with a mere $10 million over two seasons.

First ;).
Well, they treated it like nothing would happen..so there's a price to pay for that arrogance. A rather STEEP price however.....

Exactly: A little history here before any sympathy for the Redskins:
In 2010 letters warned teams that they risked being punished under the rules of the new CBA if they engaged in activities that would lead to circumventing the re-established salary cap.
The Redskins Slammed all of the $21 million left to the Haynesworth signing as 2010 salary in "uncapped" year.
They then "restructured" DeAngelo Hall's contract to throw $15 million in that same year.
THAT is where the $36 million cap penalty comes from. Got it.
By doing as they did, the Redskins were set to be $31 million UNDER the cap when that new CBA was signed. That would have put them in a position that was totally and indefensibly at an advantage over the other 31 teams, including Dallas who received only a $10 million cap penalty.
So Pulease, do not try to defend what they did. No excuse for it. And the other owners all agreed. It is set in stone-period. Two year spread on the penalty, so no crocodile tears for Snyder or JJ.

Snyder and JJ are the guilty party here, and stop the "collusion" nonsense.
Think about it: Do you want a league where big market, rich teams with owners flush with cash un-level that playing field that year? They would have had an unfair advantage for at four years, minimum, with that sleight of hand that they knew was wrong when they did it. They thumbed their noses at the league and got it jammed up another place.
Good for the owners for demanding the penalty and good for Goodell for enforcing it. Because, it is good for the league.

So what they were warned?
If there is no CBA in place, there is no agreement to violate and no basis on which to assess a penalty.
For NFL to act to control competition without a CBA in place is like a violation of monopoly laws.
I'd like to see the NFL/Goodell get smacked down hard.

Pssst.... We're not crying.
The whining from John Mara worked out well with the Giants winning the Division last year right ?? or Wrong ?
Hail To The Redskins.
Mara wanted us to lose draft picks, so we couldn't draft The R, but that didn't work either.
NFC East Champions. Cap penalty and all...
F Goodell.

They put over $160 million in salaries that year by playing with contracts, mostly to cover up Snyder and his Haynesworth 100 million deal and the Hall. Too bad, every owner eats bad contracts. Only 2 out of 32 owners played that game.
Look, if that kind of league where a guy with mucho bucks can game the system then show up $30 million under the new cap after making the dumbest deal in nfl history ( 110 million to fat albert), then fine. But most NFL fans love the game because it does not matter how rich you are, it matters how smart you are about your business.
Snyder was greedy and stupid and the stupid deserve to be punished...
And the penalty is sticking, how can it be collusion when the the player???s association to signed off on the penalties?
Snyder and JJ sat in on the meetings with the other 30 owners, Agreed they would not do the types of things JJ and Danny Boy did. Then went and did them. You bet the other owners were ticked. They were lied to.
Heck with JJ and Danny. They gambled they lost....And the players signed off. It is a done deal and JJ and Danny are considered liars and not to be trusted by 30 owners. Because that is what they are.

I'm still not sure why people are hating on Goodell for this one. He works for all the owners in the league, not just J.J. and Snyder.

Who's going to do the smacking? Would J.J. and Snyder be dumb enough to go after all the the owners on this one? That could lead to a lot of dirty laundry being aired out.

Yes he does. Would people just do their homework, look up exactly WHY it was wrong and what JJ and DS did? I guess those two should have got it in writing that they could do as they pleased. They are greedy and stupid.
It is about the whole league not those two clowns and their toys. It would have ruined the league for years. Why? because a team could have gone $50 million under the new cap if they wanted, or more, and then rolled the unused cap space over year after year after year.
The Redskins and the Cowboys have not been good enough or smart enough to win much on the field in decades playing by the rules. because they are run by rich football idiots. This was their chance to look like they knew squat. Wrong!

So Goodell got this ONE right, it doesn't excuse all the other stuff he gets WRONG!
It just doesn't!!!!!!!

Here is why it will stick:
any change to the penalty would have to be ratified by the other NFL teams and the players??? union. Both groups approved the original penalties given last year to the Redskins and the Dallas
