01:05 PM ET 03.18 | As Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens are scheduled to open their title defense in the first game of the NFL's 2013 season, which is set for Thursday, Sept. 5. However, like the 2012 season opener, next season's kickoff game could be moved due to a scheduling conflict. Unlike last year, the season won't open on the first Wednesday of September, according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post.

It's a game of scheduling chicken to see who blinks and moves first, NFL or MLB?

I really like having to click the damn article to see that what it conflicts with is Rosh Hashanah. My first impression was that the game conflicted with an Orioles game, to which the common reaction would be, "so?".

The two stadiums are right next to each other, and share parking lots. I don't even think 6 hours between start times would help. They just simply cannot happen on the same day.

It would be fun to watch the chaos.

So that wonderful mass transit system isn't capable of supporting it?

Nobody will be at the O's game, anyhow.

Many ushers, food vendors, security, and various other support work in both stadiums. Not to mention the cost to park for an Orioles game is very small potatoes compared to the cost of parking for a Ravens game.

Judging by whats left of the Ravens and how much better the O's have played...my money is on the NFL to reshedule the game. Unless of course Ray Ray the Criminal does a cameo pre-game dance. Then the hoodrats that follow the Ravens will be in full force.

it wasn't last year and it may not be this year. i guess some of you guys forgot about how good the O's were last year while playing in the hardest division in MLB by far.

Click the Twitter link. This has nothing to do with baseball vs football. It's because of Rosh Hashanah. Nice going, Mods.

Simple to fix. Just have Ray Lewis come in and murder the entire Orioles team.

Why, who did Ray Lewis kill at the Ravens' victory parade?

Balitmore does not have the brains to play both games?I guess not after liveing in Pikesville and going in and out of Balitmore and dealing with their police. But Detroit have done this I guess Detroit has the police department and the brains to run both games on the same day.
HAIL TO THE VICTORS!

Here's a novel idea: Kill the entire stupid Thursday night game and replace it with Saturday? Too easy? Worried about big TV and college? Do it on Friday. And when you think about it, Thursday games air on NFL network which nobody has so play the game at 2 in the afternoon.
The Rosh Hashanah excuse is a joke on 2 levels. Adam and Eve is a fairytale that no sane person believes anymore and secondly it's the Jewish New Year. Football used to rule on new year's day.....bring it back.
