Penn State quarterback battle starts this week

06:53 PM ET 03.18 | As spring practice gets underway at Penn State, one of the big questions facing the Nittany Lions is who will replace quarterback Matt McGloin. McGloin had a record-setting season as a senior in 2012, throwing for 3,271 yards with 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. Steven Bench, who served as the backup last season, and junior college transfer Tyler Ferguson will split reps this spring, though head coach Bill O'Brien says he probably will not name a starter until fall camp. By that point, five-star QB recruit Christian Hackenberg will be on campus and could work his way into the mix.
