08:07 AM ET 03.19 | The game of chicken between the Jets and Buccaneers over Darrelle Revis may wind up running off the rails for Gang Green. The Buccaneers are losing patience with the Jets, according to league sources, over the teams' inability to strike a deal for the All-Pro cornerback. The Buccaneers have told people around the league they may have to look at other options at cornerback soon if they can't make a deal for Revis. "It's amazing," a league source said. "The Jets are going to screw this up." ... The two sides are in Arizona until tomorrow at the NFL league meetings, so it is possible they can get something hammered out this week, but it appears the Jets might be running out of time with this suitor.

It's the Jets. Of course they will screw it up.

OK, but why should the Jets let the Bucs bargain basement shop for the guy? Look, they can get a pretty good compensatory pick if he leaves UFA next year. I would not give him away either. The Bucs want something for not much it appears, he is worth at least two second round picks. And, he is Jets property next year with a tag if they want to and proven healthy they can make a goood trade in a year. If he returns healthy then he is worth more.

That is my take on it. The Bucs are the buyer, it is the seller who sets the market price....Jets should just hold firm and answer all calls.

If the J-E-T-S can't unload Revis, it's going to get messy. I can't imagine he'll keep quiet about this for a whole season. At some point, he'll feel the need to flip the "disrespect" card.

March 19, 2013  09:17 AM ET

This isn't on the Jets, I'm sure they'll take anything they can get because Revis is such an unprofessional PITA. What will hold this "deal" up is the fact that Revis might not be able to play after the ACL.

Because the Jets overplayed their hand too early by telling everyone in the world they were going to trade Revis in the first place. If you're going to do that, you have to trade him fast. If you don't, then everyone just sits around and waits for the price to drop. The longer you wait, the lower the return because everyone knows Revis isn't going to play for them this year with the bridges that have already been burnt and the Jets will have to take just about anything. If the Jets would have just shut their pie-holes, not said a thing publicly, and traded him fast while teams were offering the moon, they could have gotten it. Now Woody and the boys look like the laughing stock (again).

Was there EVER any doubt they would??

POSSIBLY, but you can't count on that at all. For one the pick is at the END of the round, and two you can't count on a thing as far as that goes. My Packers lost two darned good players last year and yesterday all we got was a pick at the end of the fifth round. That was crap enough, but the Charges lost Vincent Jackson (stud), and they didn't get a pick at all. They have to trade Revis and FAST.

Probably b/c they cut him. Teams don't get comp picks for players they cut only ones that leave via free agency.

They didn't cut Jackson. He signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent.

So, they don't Trade Him!

He was probably a UFA vs a RFA. A team gets a pick if they sign a RFA from another team.

I agree- they cannot just 'give him away'
and I don't know exactly what the bucs are offering.

- I'm just basing my opinion on past screw ups-

they don't have to move him fast.
He is under contract for the year and teams aren't going to want to give up top picks for a guy that is currently broken
they have until the treade deadline next fall.
- it would be better for the jets if they can move him pre-draft.....
but it's not a must

March 19, 2013  11:18 AM ET

Saying the Jets are going to screw something up is kind of redundant.
