08:20 AM ET 03.19 | At some point, it seems the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry will be renewed, and, thanks to Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds, it will have that much more emotion. In their last meeting, the Longhorns beat the Aggies, 27-25, at Kyle Field on Thanksgiving Day in 2011 after Justin Tucker hit a game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired. That was the 118th and final time the two rivals squared off before Texas A&M left the Big 12 for the SEC. "They left," Dodds said. "They're the ones that decided not to play us. We get to decide when we play again. I think that's fair. If you did a survey of our fans about playing A&M, they don't want to. It's overwhelming. I know. I hear it."

they don't want to because they're good enough to beat that a zz now.

I live here in ATX. I hear it both ways though, they do want to play and they don't want to play. Its not an overwhelming "no, we don't want to".

It's all Texas' fault!

If the O'Banion vs NCAA decision goes the wrong way, they can just meet at the Chicken Ranch and have a chess tournament.

I don't get an overwhelming sense that Aggie gives a damn, DeLoss...

Maybe your focus should be on that under-performing team of yours instead.

Plus, you can decide to play them when they go back to being a so-so team and you're more assured of a victory.

That's because we don't. ;)

This, and JHM's post too.

Most aggies I know (and I know a bunch) are plenty happy how things are going, and don't miss playing UTx, at least not right now. It's all in their rearview, and that's OK with them.

Texas isn't about to play A&M. They wouldn't get another decent recruit from that state for a long time to come. A&M would poor a can or whoopass all over them. It would be a loss of epic proportions.

March 19, 2013  09:58 AM ET

...and A&M will decide who wins when they play!

March 19, 2013  10:08 AM ET

"Nothing is over until WE decide it is...was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

March 19, 2013  10:11 AM ET

just another aggie joke! You know that there are only two real aggie jokes- the rest are all true stories

March 19, 2013  10:13 AM ET

I still find it interesting that Texas has its own network, the Longhorn network. Even though their basketball, football, and baseball teams are average right now, at best.

Agree. The aggies I live around are more interested in some good OOC games whether sans the rusty cows or any other Big 12 school. (They don't care about playing Mizzou either but that's another story.) Fact is, they've indicated they would like to see some home and homes with a B1G and/or 12 PAC school every year.

Texas A & Mmoved to the major league leaving texas in the minors. Aggies pay very little attention to texas while texas is extremely jealous of Aggie success. Dodds screwed things up by trying to control the Big 12. He found that all the controlled was Gaylor. Dodds is a loser.

agreeing here, the B12 was a better travel fit for Husker fans but Tex. wanted to dominate conference decisions and when all the smoke cleared 4 teams bolted, and TX still hasn't gained anything...

Dodds should be looking in the rear view mirror. His job is more on the line than he knows. Losers in every sport and tx alums getting restless for a winner. Mack and Deloss both should be scouting other jobs.

I found it funny - this thing with DeLoss came from nowhere up here in N. Texas. My initial thought was the tree falling in the forest.

Texass thinks the football world revolves around them. Good thing they think that because AM WILL hand them their A.S.S

The arrogance of UT is astonishing. UT made their bed when they decided that they were the only important team in the Big 10. Now they are playing in a second-rate conference and aTm is lining up with the big boys.
