High-priced Leaf deep in the doghouse

08:21 AM ET 03.19 | With a $5.5-million salary cap hit through 2016-17 season, Mikhail Grabovski, is bound to encounter more scrutiny when the Leafs are losing. For Randy Carlyle, the problems facing [Grabovski] can't be measured in numbers. The struggling Maple Leafs centre found himself on the third line on Monday at practice, and though that could change before the Leafs entertain the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday, it's clear that Grabovski has some work to do to unleash himself from Carlyle's doghouse. And the quickest way for Grabovski to do that? Start putting forth a better effort. ... Grabovski has just six goals and five assists in 29 games. A little more glaring is the 29-year-old's lack of production at the Air Canada Centre.

Thanks, Burkie!
It's like his entire rationale over his four years here was "let's sign as many guys who overperform in their UFA year to as long and expensive a contract as we can!"

LMFAO - Where were you the first years of his contract when I was ripping him a new one and all the To***to fans told me I didn't know what I was talking about?

this week is gonna say alot about who the Leafs are. All the team immediately below them have a tough 2-3 games, whereas the Leafs next 2 are against pretty inferior teams. By the week end if the Leafs find themselves in a dog fight for 8th it's probably some pretty bad news going forward.

I just hope someone gives him the severe beating that he so richly deserves.

My thought is he has spent to long on the same line Kulie. Let him play with Colton for a bit and maybe it will motivate him to play harder to get back to his buddy Kulemin. If any1 saw the whole interview it was pretty funny. Here is what Mikhail had to say about living up to his contract of $5.5-million US salary cap hit through 2016-17 Grabovski said: ???I don???t think so. Anyway, I don???t spend money. My wife spends all the money so I don???t think about that. Sorry, wife.??? He's got his mind on his money and money on his mind, with a stick in his hand and a dream in his eye....

He is not the only underperformer on that line. Since Clarke MacArthur has been healthy (knock on wood), they have lost their only legit excuse for their underwhelming play the last couple of years. IMO, Kulemin is a big a dud as Grabo.
And can ANYONE on this frickin' tema score in a shootout ??????????????
Whew, I feel better now.

But he cannot be too far in the doghouse. If he was, Randy would bench their sorry arses and would have found a way to keep glue guys like Steckel, bring up Colborne, etc.

I'm expecting a rather impactful (one way or the other) trade by the end of the week. While they were never going to win the games vs. Pitt/Bos, they ran into a hot Jets team and on Saturday, two shootout shots hit the post that would've gotten them the extra point. I don't put much stock into their past two weeks. This week matters. Besides the home and home losses coming up with Boston, the Leafs play nothing but winnable games between now and seasons end.

theoretically, by the end of the week the leafs should hope to be sitting in 6th with a bit of separation...the schedule is favorable. If they drop points and if the guys immediately below them pick some up, then they're really going to be locked in the dog fight with several teams with 15-16 games left. If it comes down to the wire I don't have the Leafs coming out on top...
It's going to be a really interesting sprint to the finish.

when you are supposede to beb a goal scorer and they don't use you in the 10th round, that's bad. I know Jagr doesn't like them, but in the 10th round? He would have been out there
