08:22 AM ET 03.19 | After jumping out to a 7-0-0 start, the Sharks have now sunk to 12-10-6. [I] did attempt to find out what Hasso Plattner has been thinking since he became the de facto head of the Sharks ownership group back on Jan. 30. ... [Things] have reached the point where the questions of accountability include the general manager, no? And I'm not going to ask Doug Wilson about Doug Wilson's performance. So I reached out to Plattner. We exchanged emails. ... Plattner acknowledged Monday that "the facts are the facts" as far as the team's wins and losses, but declined to comment beyond that. Asked about accountability for players, coaches and the general manager, he again said all questions should be directed to Wilson.

They are just saving time by fading earlier this year

their whole timing is out of whack...damn lockout. If they squeek into the playoffs they might forget that it's their appointed time to start sucking.

Why would SJS want to use the TOR model of ineptitude?

Why not? It's worked so well for so long.

They are definitely not going to beat out any of the 7 teams above them. they are all solid playoff teams. It will come down to the Sharks and the 7 dwarfs for the last spot. Phoenix, Dallas, and Nashville are up and down, Columbus improved, and Edm and Calgary are also up and down, and Colo is falling.
Bottom line: The Sharks need a culture change. I like Marleau, Thornton and Boyle as people, but I don't like what they bring to this team as leaders. Marleau and Thornton are soft and don't lead by example 100% of the time. Couture and Pavelski should be leading this team, but can't do so until the other ones are out of the way.

Nice to see Plattner has the professional integrity to defer a reporter to the GM.

Toothless Sharks.

March 19, 2013  10:21 AM ET

Someone in the locker room must have heard that they have to treat every game like a playoff game in the shortened season

March 19, 2013  10:27 AM ET

Hmm, the Sharks usually wait til the playoffs to stumble....

Neime didn't help their cause and neither did the defense. Not sure how much BBurns would have helped at D though he can't be on the ice the entire game.

Does the Sharks owner talk at all if it isn't to whine about losing money in his sold-out building?

March 19, 2013  03:12 PM ET

In a business sense the owner is the Chairman of the Board...........and I don't care whether he talks or not......with the rare exception they don't know a thing about hockey talent anyway. The GM is the CEO and he's the guy who is making the ultimate decisions on personnel. The coach is the COO and he's supposed to make the pieces come together and succeed, Fans? We're the janitors. Supposed to buy the trash at top dollar.
