Packers, Rodgers working on deal

02:45 PM ET 03.19 | The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers are working on a new contract for the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback, and both sides would like to get the deal done before the start of the 2013 season. Packers president Mark Murphy said the contract would make Rodgers the highest-paid player in the NFL, meaning it would have to eclipse the six-year, $120.6 million dollar deal Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco signed shortly after Baltimore's Super Bowl win in February. The Packers made a profit of $42.7 million last season, so signing Rodgers to such a huge contract shouldn't be an issue.

I should hope so.

Now they need to get him a few new receivers as well. And a runnning back who can block and catch the ball coming out of the backfield.

here we go

Rodgers should break the bank vault on this deal.

With Brees getting 20m per season, Manning getting the same and now Flacco getting 20, if I am him, I am looking for 7yrs 150m with about 60 guaranteed.

The Packers are deep at the receiver position but could use a decent RB.

Hehehehe.... Flacco makes more money than Rodgers

Unless the Pack asks for a "discount double-check."

Sorry, didn't think the first post took.

Let's see, Joe Flacco # 25 rated QB: $20M. Aaron Rodgers # 5 rated QB, 1 TRILLION dollars!!

Give the cheese head his money.......so they don't have enough cap space to bolster the defensive or offensive back field.

March 19, 2013  05:57 PM ET

Ratings don't mean anything, when it comes to winning the Super Bowl!

Keep just enough to retain the services of Dom Capers...

I suspect Rogers will now sit down, point out Flacco's contract, and request full ownership of the Packers.

Clearly there is something wrong with this.

He deserved a good payday, but I'm not sure that even Joe Flacco deserved "Joe Flacco Money".

March 20, 2013  12:06 AM ET

So should Rodgers hold out for every last dollar, even if it means making his team less competitive?

March 20, 2013  06:43 AM ET

Didn't he get a new contract not long ago ?

I don't think Rodgers is that greedy! He'd settle for 51% ownership of the team....
