08:01 AM ET 03.20 | How many promised snaps does a starting quarterback make? Mark Sanchez will open the offseason program as the starting quarterback ... for the first snap at least. Jets coach Rex Ryan would not give Sanchez much more of an advantage in the team's starting quarterback competition other than taking the first snap when the team starts practicing this spring. "Somebody has to take the first snap," Ryan said. "That's kind of how I look at it. But there is definitely competition at that spot. The first snap, he'll be the guy running out there first. But there's going to be competition, and clearly we have to improve at the quarterback position."

Last season, we all backed off on saying that, but the Jets themselves said it for us.

Buttfumble!

Tebow will bring them out of the wilderness and to the land of milk and honey. He will part the see of divisional foes all the way to the promised land.

Wonder how many snaps each QB all 10 of 'em (at least it seems like that many) will get to perfect the Buttfumble?????

I think Sanchez has a check up on the rest of 'em in running that play right!

Just how much mileage do the Jets think they can get out of this same story. It's like deja vue all over again.

Either that or he lost a bet he wishes he had never made.

Surely FN can find a new circus act to follow...

It's either this or Revis threads. It'll get worse before it gets better.

Somehow, he took "run to daylight" and re-interpreted it as "run for that crack in the line."

So when the Jets get back to practicing, do they look at film of this play, and do they even practice to avoid it happening again?

Or do they just pretend like it never happened, and never speak of it again?

I just want to make it go away before I throw up.......oops, too late.

March 20, 2013  08:57 AM ET

So, he has to beat out David Garrard and Greg McElroy? OK, so say he does, what exactly did that prove? I am the best back up here?

It's just going to be another season of Keystone Cops meets the Dirty Dozen. UGLY!!!

March 20, 2013  09:36 AM ET

i suspect the jets will come out with a new offense, where they line up three QBs in the backfield, take out the RB. They'll hike the ball, and even the Jets wont know which QB gets the ball.

It'll be the best 2-yard passing game the NFL ever saw..
