Three UK freshman likely returning

The players don't think they're ready for the NBA?

I'd say losing to Robert Morris in the first round of the NIT proves you're not close to being ready for the NBA!!!

Apparantly the SEC wasn't disrespected by the selection committee after all.

How can KY lose to Robert Morris? How can teams that finished below KY think they desereved tournament bids?

The only job training/education these guys are in school for, is to prepare them for a career in basketball.

Nothing wrong with that, IMO. They take their chances.....just like an aspiring doctor, engineer or lawyer. And you can choose to accept.....or not.

I agree that these and any other student-athletes should be free to go pro when they choose to do so. My wish is that universities would stop pretending that all of their student athletes are persuing a college education. For those student athletes whose only desire is to go pro, let them enroll in a program called "Bachelor of Athletic Performance". It would consist of courses designed to help him/her suceed as a professional athlete. Not all student athletes would choose this route of course, and they would be free to persue a regular academic degree. This, to me, seems a much more honest way of dealing with this issue.

Consider that after their best player blew out his knee.....they lost 7 of their last 11 games without Noel. Still, they did manage to defeat Missouri and Florida win in that span.

But.....when it was all said and done; this Kentucky team ain't the same Kentucky team that you saw up until the 2nd week of February. I don't understand how you manage to not see this.

That's not really a university issue as much as it's an 'Athletic Department' issue.

DS, I completely agree! I had this same idea 10 yrs ago, and thought this would be perfect. These students would take classes associated with their sport (football, bball, etc) and earn credits for playing. Other classes that would be offered would be how to deal with money, public speaking, etc.

This idea was scoffawed at then and probably is now, too. But there are many, many majors currently available that really have a difficult time making a living on within that specialty.

I was shocked when I saw that RM/UK final score last night. Like you said, what a difference a year makes! And I'm sure Wildcats fans were upset when they didn't get an invite to March Madness. Although good thing they didn't.

I'm sure most people see it, but that's what the big problem is. UK had another dream signing year last year and with only one of the cogs missing they got bumped in the first round of the NIT. A mid-major that loses its one and only big "star" is in trouble: UK shouldn't have been.

TZ, I agree with you and was thinking along your lines when I was reading Sparty's post, which I agree with as well. Those playing college sports who have the potential to go pro need an education that includes contract negotiation and money management in order to maximize their earning potential. Probably not a bad idea for the rest of the students either. Although I do think the "sports related degree" should also include a rounded education that helps the student prepare for earning a living after their sports career is over or more likely for the majority doesn't materialize.

Ok, so the numbers don't add up. These three want to, and should, stay. Cal is bringing in this monster class that just added Randle today. So does that mean he's going to boot some off the team? Or, I mean, have some "early graduations"????!!!!!
Yeah, he needs a #1 class to make up for this year! Oh wait, wasn't this a #1 class, too??!!
